I think it depends on each campground. I am 100% DAV same time frame as you . Calif has some passes but you have to be a resident. I live in Nevada and some camping is free but some places only free for day use.GO ARMY!! GBA!!SVJ

I have the Interagency Access Pass provided by the National Park Service.  It provides 50% discounts to all national parks and other agency ran (COE, etc) parks.  Some states even accept the pass for 50% discounts on state ran facilities.   https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm#CP_JUMP_5088581
