these houses are in the Mojave Desert in Calf. They had no wood so they use sand stone caves that they carved out of the hills.Have more pictures but too big to post

I love to explore areas that have remnants of the past.  It is great fun to stand there and try to visualize what people were doing at the time.  Thanks for sharing, Joe.

Very interesting. Did you just happen upon these while out exploring, or are they part of a ghost town you went to see?

The town is Shoshone ca. just outside east side of Death Valley. We had heard about them for years and finally found them this trip. It is called Dublin Gulch on the internet. The had one place with a garage built in the cliff. There was a German section and a Welsh section with the outhouse in the middle. Another cabin  was 2 stories with a chimney for a wood stove. The shelf and beds where carved right into the sand stone. I have more pictures but to big to post. I could e mail them if you want. GBA!!SVJ
