Hello All!

We purchased the 195FKS in October 2016 -   a couple of days ago, the hot water heater blew black soot.   It is not operating and we are using showers at RV parks until we can get it back to the Dealer.   Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like you had water sitting in the tank for a while. You need to flush it out and sterilize the tank to kill the algae.

Black soot on the outside, where the burner is? It's possible that some critters got in and built a nest inside the burner loop. Wasps/hornets/daubers can all get through the rather coarse screen which comes standard.

I used some aluminum window screen to prevent that. Popped the coarse screen out, then pushed it back in covered with window screen so the window screen is trapped at the edges.

I did the similar for the refrigerator vents (both the side and roof), the A/C roof vent, and got some of these for the furnace vents.

Well the problem turned out to be 2 fold.  Black soot caused by a Mud Dubber.  Not working at all bad control board.  Thank Heaven for warranties.
