Help.
We just purchased a 199FKS and had a 4-way Equal-i-zer hitch installed. The hitch is hitting the spot where the safety chains are welded to the trailer frame when turning. It has damaged the chain mounting point and bent the bar that attached the chain to the trailer frame.
Any ideas on what to do to fix it?

Equal-i-zers are well respected (we use the E2, which is a step down). Assuming it would clear if the safety chains were attached elsewhere, I'd grind them off and find a local welder to relocate where they attach. It should be a quick job for them.

Thanks for the input. We moved the safety chains to the side of the frame just behind the hitch. Had to extend the chain about three links to get the proper hang. Gonna work great. Anyone buying a Retro and planning on using the E2 OR Equal-i-zer be aware of the potential for the hitch to hit the mount when making a sharp turn.
