Just got back from a 9 day dry camping in the ADK in NY with our 177 S.E.  All of last year we had our battery draining fast and would not understand why, I talked to dealers, other campers no one could tell me why. Started carrying 2 6volt deep cycle 220 amp in series to run camper. We were losing about 20% a night . WE stopped using the interior light, L.E.D , did not use pump, furnace, or fan. Frig on propane still used 20%  On second to last night at 6:00 am a light bulb went of in my head. Took cell phone and put it on vidio , opened frig door, light on in frig put phone in frig shut door, LIGHT STILL ON!   10watt bulb has been on all this time every time we dry camped . Bulb was so hot could not touch, duct taped switch down to cool bulb, lever on light did not engage the door will try to adjust it, You might want to video your frig to check this out.  Brian

great find and great tip  - thanks

Do you have a Jensen DVD player - I am curious how much those draw when turned off.

No radio or dvd player in our camper. Mikes may know, he seems to have info on electric draw in the retros. On a side note our frig was cooling like a big freezer no matter how low we set it. I think this bulb only 6 inches from sensor caused it to keep cooling. Brian

Yes the Jensen does draw and if you turn the Bluetooth scan on it really does. I installed a switch above the radio in our 176S so I could turn the power on and off when we want to.

A power switch is a good idea. does it continue to drain if you turn the display intensity to zero?

snarkreto,
How did you install the switch?  I don't see any way to get into the mounting box.....

Here are the pics. I cut the ground to radio and spliced in wire to switch. Switch I bought on E Bay come in a pack of two.    DSC01644.JPG DSC01643.JPG
