We camped at Great Sand Dunes NP in early May and woke to a surprise 5" snowfall. The heavy, wet snow smashed many of the pinon trees and collapsed some tents. No one was injured, and no trailers were damaged. The NPS crews spent a couple of days cutting down damaged trees.
Note the broken branches above and beside RetroKit.Sand Dunes Campsite.JPG The Dunes were covered in snow--

Sand Dunes later same day.JPGMedano Creek was running high-- a real treat to walk downstream for about a mile or so, and then back.
Ice cold and refreshing.

Thanks. Sand Dunes is one of our favorite destinations. We're going again next week for two nights.
