Hi all -
Our 2020 285FK did not come with any kind of hood or vent above or around the 2-burner stove. Weird. So far, hasn't been an issue, as I prefer to cook outside and we bring along a portable grill but...when it gets cold, I imagine I'll want to use the stove inside the camper. Is this a (very odd) design choice or does yours have a vent? Maybe I'm missing a part that should have been installed?

On a related note: has anyone replaced the front window, which does not slide open for air, with one that does? That would fix the venting issue...

Thanks!

Same thing with the 199fks. If you’re cooking anything that iis going to produce even The slightest puff of smoke, you’ll want to disable the smoke detector. 199 has a window to the right Of the stove, but that seems of no help whatsoever. I wouldn’t mess with the window for that purpose.AA8D487E-F5B4-4CF4-91CC-97EE1B1266AB.jpeg

its likely due to the rounded roof line up front. Theres not really a way to properly mount a standard hood vent there. It would have to be custom sheet metal work to match the curvature of the wall.

Still, strange design choices. There’s plenty of room for a window to the side, as in the 199, or simply using a sliding window in front. Oh well, not a huge deal but....odd 🙄

IMHO it is a neg mark against Riverside RV design team. There should be no reason to NOT include an outside vent for your stove. I have one and still have to remove battery in the smoke detector. This is a safety issue. Would be more logical to not include the stove!

wonder how much they saved. Number of trailers with no vent times the cost of the vents!!GBA!!SVJ

Two solutions:
1) Replace the non-fan roof vent With one that contains a 12 volt fan, just like it the trailer bathroom.

2) Buy a small fan for the window to the right or just a fan that will blow the smoke and odors our the window.

ive got a 199FKS too & was very unhappy with no vent, too, but until I am motivated, I’m being lazy and just use a countertop fan.
